Ibeo Automotive and ZMP have decided to bundle their powers to develop an autonomous driving car which uses LIDAR sensors. Combining the expertise of both companies is a first step to create an autonomous driving car which eventually drives through a megacity like Tokyo.
Ibeo LIDAR sensors will be used as main environmental sensors to detect and recognize certain objects. ZMP is a Japanese company which stated mission is “Robot of Everything”. ZMP wants to create a safe and comfortable lifestyle with the use of robotics technology.
In the current iteration, the RoboCar Toyota Estima Hybrid is equipped with an Ibeo Fusion System of five ScaLa LIDAR sensors and an Ibeo ECU.
