“How We Solved the Solid-State Challenge”
30 June 2020 | 5pm to 6pm, CEST (11am to 12pm, EDT / 8am to 9am, PDT)

In this webinar, Hanno Holzhüter, will introduce the automotive LiDAR design space which includes the different sensor concepts of companies working in the field. Furthermore, he derives Ibeos 4D solid-state LiDAR from the design space and sheds light on some of its key features.

Speaker

Hanno Holzhüter works as a Research Project Manager at Ibeo and is also a PhD student with focus on digital signal processing in LiDAR sensors at Leibniz University Hanover and Ibeo. Before joining Ibeo in 2016, Hanno worked as a scientific assistant in the engineering education research group at Technical University of Hamburg after finishing his master in astrophysics at the Georg-August-University Göttingen.

“Ground Truth in Minutes – Demonstration of a LiDAR-based Tool Chain”

Ibeo may be best known for our LiDAR sensors, but we also offer a powerful, automated tool chain that replaces the need for manual annotation in ADAS/AD validation.  In their webinar, Michel Berendes and Jakub Zimny will highlight why the Ibeo.Reference toolchain is also an excellent development tool for engineers working with any perception system.

Michel Berendes is a product manager for ibeo.Reference, a ground truth generating toolchain solving development and validation challenges for higher-level autonomous driving perception functions. He joined Ibeo Automotive Systems GmbH in 2018. His academic background includes an MEng in Aircraft System Engineering from Hamburg University of Technology (Germany) and research projects at Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (Brazil).

SPEAKER

Jakub Zimny, Group Leader Customer Experience, studied Information and Electrical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science at Hamburg University of Applied Sciences. After his studies he joined Ibeo in March 2014 and accompanied Ibeo during its immense growths becoming a market leader in the automotive LiDAR market.

“Can we rely on Machine Learning? - Safety Aspects on Autonomous Driving”
2 July 2020 | 5pm to 6pm, CEST (11am to 12pm, EDT / 8am to 9am, PDT)

Safety and reliability are the key ingredients for social acceptance of autonomous vehicles. This strongly required robustness is regulated in automotive applications by standards like the ISO 26262. Following these standards, Stefan Imlauer and Julia Nitsch highlight methods and tools for designing certifiable systems which ensure safe autonomous vehicles.

-        about analysis of critical scenarios for autonomous driving
-        how to address challenges in machine learning algorithms
-        how to apply safety standards to machine learning based perception

SPEAKER

Stefan Imlauer, Platform Manager Autonomous Driving, studied information and computer engineering with a major on autonomous robotics and artificial intelligence. Since 2016 he works for Ibeo as a system development engineer and applied scientist in the field of autonomous driving. His research and development interests are in the field of algorithmic design and optimization for decision making methods with emphasis on high-level planning and prediction techniques.

SPEAKER

Julia Nitsch, System Developer at Ibeo, studied information and computer engineering at TU Graz, Austria. She received her M.Sc. in 2016 with a major in autonomous robotics. Since 2016 she is employed at Ibeo Automotive Systems GmbH and started her PhD studies in cooperation with the Autonomous Systems Lab, ETH Zurich in 2017. Her research interests are in automotive perception, sensor fusion and machine learning.
