Ibeo truck applications

Ibeo has generated considerable impetus in the interests of safety awareness and convenience with its solutions for trucks.

The key factors of cost and time, in fleet management in particular, as well as the safety hazards associated with trucks in urban traffic, have played a major role in the development of our additional applications for trucks.

Turning Assistant

A nightmare scenario for every truck driver - the risk of overseeing a pedestrian or cyclist when turning. The likelihood of injury in such cases is especially high. Nearside turning manoeuvres are particularly hazardous, typically for a cyclist who is alongside the truck but outside the driver's field of view.

Because of the driver's elevated seated position, a large area of the vehicle's left side (right side in countries that drive on the right) is directly invisible and cannot be easily monitored even with mirrors. Their 240° radius enables the Ibeo laser scanners to see more of the vehicle's surroundings and to issue warning and stop signals to the driver as appropriate. They effectively eliminate the blind spot and thus avert danger to other road users.

Slow Motion Assistant

The Slow MotionAssistant is especially significant because of the large area in front of the truck that the driver is unable to see. At slow speeds in the range from 0 to 20 km/h this function contributes to the avoidance of collisions. The exceptional scope of the sensor's field of vision comprehensively monitors the area in question.

All objects and persons from a range of 20 cm are detected and, in case of a risk of collision, a warning signal is issued first. If the signal is ignored or the driver responds too slowly, a stop command is sent to the vehicle in order to prevent impact.

Cut-In Assistant

Overtaking manoeuvres are especially hazardous for commercial vehicles.

To enable the driver to get back in lane safely after overtaking, this function emits a "go" signal as soon as a suitable gap becomes available.
