Multilayer Technology

The vehicle's pitching motion poses a challenge to sensors installed in a car. An incorrect reading can easily occur, for example, if a measurement is taken as a tyre hits a pothole. The system could lose sight of relevant objects as a result.

Ibeo Laserscanners split the laser beam into four vertical layers. Distance measurements are taken independently for each of these layers with an aperture angle of 3.2°.

This allows any pitching of the vehicle, caused by an uneven surface or driving manoeuvres such as braking and accelerating, to be fully compensated.
