| | Ibeo laser scanners perform especially well in the generation of digital 3D maps.
The scanners are integrated in a vehicle together with video cameras with overlapping fields of view. The data delivered by the two systems are merged on the basis of the scanners' distance profiles and the colour and structure information generated by the camera.
This represents a very simple way of creating detailed 3D maps of the surroundings in real time. The high angular resolution, coupled with the precise measurement of distances by the laser scanner, allows the environment to be depicted in three dimensions with a high definition.
